General B2 German is the prerequisite for almost everything: for the Fachsprachprüfung, for the Approbation and — above all — for surviving on the ward. It's the longest part of the journey: best to start while still in Italy.

Don't wait for "perfect" B2 before moving: many did their final course months in Berlin, where immersion speeds everything up. But don't arrive with A2 either — without a solid base the first months are very hard.
